Our photo essay winners come from both professional and amateur fields, and from such geographically distant and distinct places as Kenya, Senegal and Morocco. They each share, however, the ability to conceive and execute an important story through a photo essay, a medium that provides photojournalists a wider canvas on which to paint a visually compelling narrative.
