América Latina Genera

This website is part of the “América Latina Genera” project, which focuses on gender equity knowledge management in an effort to facilitate the access to information and knowledge on gender issues in the Spanish-speaking Latin American region. It is designed to enhance exchanges and coordination among the stakeholders involved in the pursuit of achieving gender equity within the region.

This new initiative, spearheaded by UNDP, incorporates a team of researchers and stakeholders from the worlds of business, academia and the human development community who make a substantial contribution both to business strategies and to human development through the provision of mapping tools and a matrix of strategies derived from a broad base of case studies. This website is a source of reports about research, initiatives, tools and case studies used in developing this platform.

Experiences in Social Innovation

Experiences in Social Innovation is an initiative of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean with support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. This venture is designed to showcase the results of the Experiences in Social Innovation competition which seeks to identify, evaluate and give recognition to the most innovative experiments in eight established categories: health, education, nutrition and food safety, youth programmes, income generation, corporate social responsibility, volunteer programmes and rural agricultural development.

The Winner Net was created by the DEVNET International Association, UNIFEM and UNDP and financed by the General Directorate for Cooperation and Development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Italy. The Winner Net site is directed at women entrepreneurs in micro, small and medium-sized enterprises as well as organizations that work with women and communications media that deal with women’s issues.

The SIGOB project is designed to achieve capacity building in the area of institutional management for democratic governance. Its objective is to develop methodologies and tools to support governmental policy action in the upper echelons of government, contributing to maintaining or creating a framework for democratic governance.

Afrodescendants represent almost 30% of Latin American population and experience disproportionate levels of poverty and social exclusion. UNDP “Regional Project on Afrodescendants Population in Latin America” aims to foster widened citizenship through inclusive participation and to promote afrodescendants’ economic, political, cultural and social rights. This blog -result of a seminar for journalists from Colombia, Ecuador and Panama, it is as window to the reality and cultural richness of the Afro population in the region.
