HuRiTalk: The Human Rights Policy Network

HURITALK — the UN human-rights policy network offers members an opportunity for policy dialogue on emerging human rights issues. It has over 850 members, dotted all over the globe and representing more than 12 UN entities, and is still growing.  HURITALK acts as a forum through which members can share information and tools, as well as discuss and build knowledge on best strategies for integrating human rights norms and principles into development programmes. It is an important tool for translating the UNs commitment to integrating human rights into all aspects of its work.

HURITALK is hosted by UNDP and is part of the Action 2 programme. It supports all UN, development and humanitarian agency partners striving to adopt a human rights based approach in their policy and programme framework, based on the UN Common Understanding.

The objective and services of the network are to:

  • Discuss and help Formulate Human Rights Policies, strategies and tools;
  • Share Comparative Experiences and "Good Practices" in terms of integrating human rights into development programmes;
  • Pose Questions and start Discussions on substantive issues related to human rights;
  • Share Information on upcoming workshops, conferences, training courses, and significant publications and web resources, through a Monthly Resource Update prepared by the network facilitator at the end of each month;
  • Present all other general items of news and information that you judge to merit the attention of HURITALK members.
