DG Knowledge Exchange Forum (DGKEF)
Promoting Knowledge for Building an Inclusive, Responsive and Capable State
Focusing on knowledge management, the Democratic Governance Practice Network (DGP-Net) is constantly developing new ways to connect the vibrant democratic governance community to the latest information on global trends and challenges, regional issues and local knowledge. DGP-Net has developed the Democratic Governance Knowledge Exchange Forum (DG KEF); a platform that places the extensive knowledge produced by UNDP and its partners in context, and allows other practitioners to connect with these "knowledge producers" for greater sharing of ideas and practices.
This forum enables UNDP country offices to gain access to the knowledge of the entire organization. While at headquarters, the Democratic Governance Group (DGG) will offer an enhanced capacity to respond to identified needs, new demands and emerging global, regional and national challenges.
About the Democratic Governance Knowledge Exchange Forum
Launched at the 2010 Democratic Governance Community of Practice meeting in Dakar, Senegal, DG KEF collects, captures and disseminates democratic governance knowledge products and services to professionals engaged in governance programming and policy processes across the 160 UNDP country offices and beyond. It is a mutual sharing and learning forum where all participants can contribute to promoting knowledge products and services, to fostering cross-practice and cross-regional exchange, and to sharing ideas and innovations. It is a 'marketplace' where products are exhibited and lessons on innovations are learned and discussed. Most importantly, DG KEF is a permanent forum to promote active knowledge sharing and collaboration. It is a space for colleagues in democratic governance to deliberate, create, share, use, apply and assess knowledge development and application in an approach that is cross-regional, thematic and cross-practice.
The DG Knowledge Exchange Forum offers:
Knowledge Products: These resources may include traditional publications such as reports, practice notes, thematic guidelines and toolkits, or electronic products such as CD-ROM, Web portals, websites, computer programs and audio-visual products. Other relevant knowledge products may include workshop or seminar training tools and methodologies or a detailed curriculum plan, for example.
Knowledge Services: These resources may include interactive Web portals, wiki-based platforms, dedicated CoP facilitation support, a knowledge base, knowledge audits, and other practical services.
A platform for spreading Innovative Ideas: Past and present knowledge cannot be lost, wasted or go under-capitalized if it is to benefit the future of our practice. UNDP's knowledge of democratic governance can generate tremendous capacity - and this forum puts that knowledge at the fingertips of practitioners working in all parts of the organization in all parts of the world.
