UNDP ART approach and methodology in synergy with the activities implemented in the Arab Region
The meeting on UNDP ART services was held last 10-11 October at the Regional Center in Cairo (RCC) between the International Coordinator of the ART Initiative, Giovanni Camilleri and Alia Al Dalli, RCC Director.
ART represents an entry point for multiple development partners interested in actively and more cohesively participate in local governance processes for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and Sustainable Human Development (SHD), through:
Platforms that promote integrated territorial development systems.
Strengthened local capacities for coordinating multilateral, bilateral and Decentralized Cooperation actors.
The promotion of aid and development effectiveness at local level.
The development of local economic potentialities, strategies and initiatives integrating sustainable development's pillars.
The RCC Director recognizes the added value of the partnership within the ART Initiative through the decentralized cooperation mechanisms, as an added value in the Arabcountries.
As a result of the meeting, it has been highlighted the possibility of incorporating the ART approach and methodology in the RCC activities in the region. Thus facilitating the partnership mobilization, by contributing to the support of Human Sustainable Development process in the different countries. For this purpose, another meeting might be held next April.
