UNDPUNDP-GEF supports countries in sustainably managing chemicals and hazardous waste. This includes site remediation, and the reduction of dioxins and mercury release from medical waste management.
In 2011, 29 regional projects with GEF funding and the support of UNDP are under implementation. These projects have received US$ 149 million in GEF grant financing and US$ 628 million in country investments (co-financing).
