UNDP-GEF supports countries in unleashing the economic potential of protected area systems, and in mainstreaming biodiversity management into economic sector activities.

In 2011, 112 countries are implementing 128 projects with GEF funding and the support of UNDP.  These projects have received US$ 481 million in GEF grant financing and US$ 1,318 million in country investments (co-financing).
