Who will participate and present papers?

This is a closed conference where countries and targeted participants, who have been selected based on a set of criteria, are invited by the co-hosts of the conference. Invited participants will include:

Professionals, practitioners and authorities charged with the conduct, commissioning and management of evaluation in governments

Users of evaluation such as representatives from ministries of finance, general audit bodies, national parliamentarians, and civil society and non-governmental organizations

Promoters and advocates of evaluation in research institutions and universities

The inclusion of decision-makers - who use evaluation to influence public policies and programmes -is of particular importance when addressing the use of evaluation. Countries that participated in the previous conference will receive an invitation to this follow-up conference in order to ensure continuity and the development of a critical mass for wider knowledge sharing and network. Additional participants may be selected, based on recommendations from the external international advisory group.

The idea is that every country has a 'team' and the members collectively prepare a paper on a country case. Or, one person may lead the paper preparation and presentation, but the members (representing evaluation practitioners and users-decision makers) will contribute so that it is a country example presented. It may not be always possible, but that is the spirit promoted in the conference to ensure national ownership.
