The 4th International Conference on National Evaluation Capacities (NEC) took place in Bangkok on 26-30 October 2015 and brought together governments, non-State actors and institutional organizations to discuss the importance of national evaluation capacities in the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for a poverty free world. The event was conducted along with the 2015 International Development Evaluation Association (IDEAS) Global Assembly. The theme of this year’s conference was: Blending Evaluation Principles with Development Practices to Change People’s Lives.
The conference was organized by the Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand and the UNDP Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific.
The NEC conference was the largest global evaluation event of 2015 where more than 400 participants were in attendance.
This declaration seeks to capture an emerging body of shared understanding on lessons and priorities for evaluation practice in the era of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to help guide joint action in future support of national evaluation capacity.
