Evaluation of UNDP Partnership with Global Funds and Philanthropic Foundations

2012

The evaluation report provides insights into UNDP partnerships with global funds and philanthropic foundations. Drawing on evidence from 70 UNDP programme countries, including detailed lessons from thirteen country case studies, the evaluation considers the strategic importance of UNDP as an implementer for global funds and foundations. The evaluation analyses three global funds in particular, which are major partners for UNDP: the Global Environmental Facility, Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and the Multilateral Fund (Montreal protocol). Likewise, three large philanthropic foundations that UNDP works closely with are considered in detail: the Al Maktoum, Gates and Soros Foundations. The evaluation assesses the effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of UNDP programmes and activities, and provides conclusions and recommendations for UNDPs continuing work with these partners.
