Assessment of Development Results: Nicaragua

2007

The Assessment of Development Results (ADR) covers the period from 1998 to 2005. The evaluation found that UNDP programmes were relevant and corresponded to the development priorities and needs of Nicaragua. Overall, UNDP interventions had variable degrees of effectiveness. In some situations, the implementation modalities did not lead to the sufficient capacity building for the projects to be reproduced by the national actors once UNDP programme is completed. The evaluation recommended that UNDP should strengthen its planning and evaluation procedures, and should work to ensure the continuity and coherency of its projects. The evaluation concluded that UNDP Nicaragua can continue being a strategic ally in the development process of Nicaragua, underscoring the importance of building and maintaining partnerships with the government and other development partners.
