2010

This evaluation covers the contribution of UNDP to development results in Indonesia during the past two programming cycles (2001-2005 and 2006-2009/2010) and draws lessons for the next programming cycle of 2011-2015. During the period under evaluation, support provided by UNDP was found to be aligned with the country’s development priorities. UNDP provided critical support in the democratization process, and in handling emergency and recovery efforts in the areas affected by the tsunami. UNDP continued to be a trusted partner with the Government of Indonesia.

UNDP Indonesia’s most important contribution in meeting the challenge of poverty reduction has been its multi-stakeholder approach, partnering with CSOs to manage grants and credits to households, and encouraging local communities to apply a rights-based approach to public services and access to justice. Lessons from this evaluation include the need for UNDP to continuously readjust strategically to national development priorities, and maintain its people-centered approach to development
