UNDP Regional Centre for Eastern and Southern Africa (Johannesburg)

The Regional Service Centre in Johannesburg serves 22 countries in Eastern and Southern Africa. These are
Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho,
Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Seychelles, Swaziland, Tanzania,
Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

We provide policy advice and technical backstopping in the practice areas and cross-cutting themes identified in the UNDP Strategic Plan: We also manage regional programmes, which provide support to regional institutions and countries in the subregion. We strive to provide information on good practices by capturing, codifying and sharing experiences and good practices with our clients and partners. We host the Secretariat of the Regional Directors’ Team (RDT), recently re-named UNDG for Eastern and Southern Africa (UNDG-ESA), which supports the UN Country Teams (UNCTs) in implementing the UN Coherence Agenda.
